BIOBUZZ Scorer · Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 15, 2026

Your privacy, in short

Your matches stay on your device. There is no account, no ads, no tracking, and nothing is sold. The App only sends anonymous usage statistics and downloads public game rules data.

On your device

Matches, settings, and media stay local.

No account

No sign-in or personal profile is required.

No advertising

No ad identifiers and no cross-app tracking.

Nothing is sold

We do not sell, rent, or trade information.

1. Information stored on your device

The App stores saved matches, scores, match logs, practice sessions, team numbers and team assignments, settings, a chosen theme, custom background photos, and local History & Analysis statistics only on your iPhone. This data is shared with the App’s home screen widgets and Live Activity on the same device through an App Group. It is not sent to us or anyone else, and deleting the App deletes this data. The list of FIRST Tech Challenge teams used for search is bundled inside the App; team numbers are public information published by FIRST.

2. No account and no personal information

The App has no sign-in and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location. We do not collect advertising identifiers and do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. Photos and videos

When you choose a background image or a MATCH video to review, the App uses the system photo picker and can access only the specific items you select. When you export a MATCH video with the score bar, the App requests add-only access to your Photos library and cannot read your library. Videos are processed on your device. Photos and videos are never uploaded to us.

4. Two-phone scoring (local network)

Two-phone scoring connects nearby devices directly through Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Match scores travel between connected devices over an encrypted connection and do not pass through any server. Nearby devices may see your device name; iOS asks for Local Network permission, which you can turn off at any time in Settings.

5. Game rules updates

To keep point values and rules current after official Team Updates, the App may download a public rules file hosted on GitHub (gist.githubusercontent.com). This request contains no personal information. As with any internet request, GitHub receives your IP address as part of the connection; see GitHub’s Privacy Statement.

6. Anonymous usage statistics

We use Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the European Union, to understand feature use and improve the App. It sends launch and feature-open events, totals for finished matches and practice sessions, App and iOS versions, device model, language or region, and a random session ID that changes regularly. These statistics never include your name, team numbers, photos, videos, or other personal identifiers; cannot be linked to you or your device; and are not used for advertising or combined with other sources. Aptabase may use the request IP address only to estimate country and does not store it. No other analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs are used.

7. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share information with third parties, except for the anonymous statistics processed by Aptabase. When you use Share to send a match card, results, or a video, you choose where that content goes; it is then handled by the service you choose under its own privacy policy. The App also links to external websites, including the official FIRST Competition Manual, the FTC Events API, qazaqly.com, and Instagram, which have their own privacy policies.

8. Data retention and your choices

Data on your device stays until you delete it in the App or delete the App. Anonymous statistics cannot be linked to you, so they cannot be identified, accessed, or deleted per user; they are kept only in aggregate form to improve the App. You can revoke Photos and Local Network permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

9. Children

The App is designed for students, mentors, and volunteers of all ages, including FIRST Tech Challenge team members under 13. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. It has no accounts, chat, ads, or user profiles.

10. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to it. Because the App does not collect personal data that can identify you, we usually hold no data that relates to you. The anonymous statistics in section 6 are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the App. We do not sell or “share” personal information as defined by the CCPA. If you have a question or request, contact us using the details below.

11. Security

Your data stays on your device and is protected by iOS security features, including device encryption. Two-phone scoring uses encrypted connections. Network requests use HTTPS.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page and in the App with a new effective date. Significant changes will be noted in the App’s release notes.
